Inside The Omen Oracle

The 44 cards of The Omen Oracle are divided into four distinct groups, each offering a different way to approach a question or reading.

Archetype Wisdom Cards introduce figures such as The Death Whisperer, The Messenger, The Council, The Alchemist, The Peacemaker, The Ancestors, and The Dream Weaver. Their messages explore guidance, change, relationships, creativity, self-knowledge, and the patterns that shape our lives.

Creature Embodiment Cards turn to the animal world. Leopard, Scarab, White Owl, Tiger, Moth, Falcon, Fox, Koi Fish, Python, Dragonfly, and Wolf each represent qualities you may be asked to recognize or embody. The Koi Fish, for example, speaks of persistence, good fortune, and spiritual evolution.

Plant Medicine Cards look to plants including Lemon Balm, Purple Thistle, Peony, Hawthorn, Mugwort, Mushroom, Lavender, Rose, Sage, Peppermint, and Yarrow. Drawing on their symbolism and traditional associations, these cards connect the reading to growth, resilience, healing, transformation, and our relationship with the natural world.

The final eleven Visio Divina Cards work differently. Inspired by Visio Divina, the contemplative practice of “divine seeing,” each card presents a human figure together with a single word such as Trust, Anger, Vulnerability, Fear, Love, Patience, Loneliness, or Joy. Rather than immediately interpreting the image, you are invited to meet the figure's gaze, sit with the word, and notice what it brings up for you.

Together, these four groups allow the deck to approach a question from several directions: through an archetype, an animal ally, a plant, or a moment of direct contemplation.

Reading with The Omen Oracle

The Omen Oracle works equally well for a quick daily draw or a more reflective reading. Pull a single card as an Omen of the Day, allowing its message to become a focus for the day, or draw several cards when a question calls for greater depth.

The accompanying 72-page guidebook provides a full interpretation for every card, followed by a Meditation/Intention that suggests a way to reflect on or work with its message. It also introduces several spreads, including the three-card Path Ahead, the four-card Four Winds Spread, and a Creature and Plant Union Spread that pairs an animal card with a plant card and asks how the two might support one another.

The Visio Divina Mirror Spread offers a particularly contemplative approach. Draw a Visio Divina card, spend a few moments with the figure's gaze, and allow the word on the card to settle before asking what it awakens or brings to the surface.

The guidebook also includes a simple opening ritual for preparing to read. None of this is required—the cards can be used as simply as drawing one and opening the book—but it gives you several ways to deepen your practice when you want to spend more time with the deck.

The Artwork

Cat Pierce's hand-painted artwork gives The Omen Oracle its unmistakable character. Saturated color, strong graphic borders, expressive faces, animals, plants, stars, eyes, and other recurring symbols create cards that are immediately engaging yet filled with details to return to.

Readers familiar with The Wandering Star Tarot will recognize Pierce's distinctive visual style and the diversity of people represented in her work. In The Omen Oracle, that imagery takes on new roles: animals become allies, plants carry their own messages, archetypal figures offer guidance, and the faces of the Visio Divina cards are meant to be looked at directly and contemplated.

The result is a deck in which the artwork isn't simply illustrating a written meaning. Looking closely at the cards is an important part of the reading itself.

About the Creator

Cat Pierce is an artist, musician, songwriter, and creator of The Omen Oracle and The Wandering Star Tarot. As one half of the sister duo The Pierces, she has toured internationally and created music featured in film and television. Her interests in art, writing, spirituality, and personal transformation eventually led her to bring those worlds together through tarot and oracle.

Pierce created both the writing and the hand-painted artwork for The Omen Oracle, continuing the distinctive visual style readers first encountered in The Wandering Star Tarot.

Based in Los Angeles, Cat is a local artist whose work has become a favorite at TarotArts. We also carry her much-loved The Wandering Star Tarot, known for its colorful artwork, inclusive imagery, and warm, accessible approach to tarot.
