The Heart of the Deck

Much like the Death card in tarot, which represents release, transition, and the possibility of something new emerging, Morbid Mirror Oracle approaches mortality through the lens of transformation and change.

This oracle invites us to consider what deserves to be remembered, what may be ready to change, and how acknowledging life’s temporary nature can deepen our appreciation for the present.

The deck also looks beyond any single cultural understanding of mortality. Its imagery and guidebook touch upon ancestral remembrance, festivals, mythology, spiritual beliefs, natural cycles, and traditions through which people have sought to understand death and maintain connections with those who came before them.

Working with the Morbid Mirror Oracle

Each of the 77 cards presents a distinct theme accompanied by a concise message printed directly on the card. These messages are frequently reassuring, practical, and life-affirming, encouraging the reader to express themselves, nurture relationships, accept change, trust their intuition, and recognize their place within something larger.

The accompanying 204-page guidebook expands upon each card with an interpretation, advice, and questions for reflection or journaling. Additional material introduces several ways to work with the deck, including yes-or-no meanings, suggested actions, and spirit numbers.

Morbid Mirror Oracle may be used for daily card pulls, personal readings, journaling, meditation, shadow work, grief reflection, or alongside a traditional tarot practice. Although its themes can be profound, no previous oracle or tarot experience is required.

Artwork and Presentation

Soni Graves’ black-background illustrations combine cemetery imagery, botanical borders, celestial symbols, and expressive skeletons with luminous pastel details. Iridescent foil accents bring shifting tones of pink, blue, green, and violet to the cards, creating a playful contrast with their darker imagery.

The cards are finished with silver-gilt edges and accompanied by a substantial illustrated guidebook, making the U.S. Games edition both an engaging reading deck and a distinctive addition to an oracle collection.
