Creator
Journalist and tv producer turned astrologer and New Age writer and author, Yasmin Boland, has been scouring the skies for insights for over 15 years. Passion turned to profession when she realised just how much the astrological ‘weather’ affects everyone, herself included, and she started writing about it.
As a result, she’s now read by millions of people each week via her astrology and New Age columns in publications including the Sunday Telegraph and Red. She writes the daily Stars for Yahoo! Australia and New Zealand, and for various US and UK magazines and websites, including Red, Soul & Spirit and Chat It’s Fate.
She writes or has written columns for publications and websites in Indonesia, Japan (where she has a growing following), South Africa, Malaysia and Abu Dhabi, and as a result has followers across the world. For four years, she wrote the monthly Stars (under her own name) for the late, great Jonathan Cainer’s site.
Artist
Ali Vermilio
Ali Vermilio is a collage artist and designer. Her work explores themes of liberation, and in turn stories of the systems and structures which inhibit freedom. Female figures form a strong presence in her work, as well as symbols from nature and mythology. Her collage work repurposes old magazines and materials, emphasising how personal and collective stories echo in our perception; her process nods to rebirth, and of transformation.
‘My work is an outlet for my inner questioning – my contemplations on the nature of reality, consciousness and how it defines our individual and collective experiences. At heart, I think I am a seeker, interested in freedom and liberation and in turn the cultural, social and mental systems and structures which inhibit and confine freedom. As such my practice is an evolving conversation, much like my own perspectives, and is inspired by my interest in nature, yoga, philosophy, mythology and astrology.’
After graduating, Ali worked as a junior designer to design director for over 10 years, specialising across Design & Strategy, in Liverpool & London, before becoming freelance so she could focus on her collage art and travel. She continues to freelance for people, planet and arts-focused organisations, with design clients including Ecoversity, Association of Illustrators, The Bluecoat, Origin, Ceri Hand and Five Floors Energy Practice.
Her collage work has been used across websites, brands, album covers and in publishing. She has been commissioned to create works for Ram Dass (Be Here Now Network), Mute Records – QUINQUIS – and Hay House publishers, and was recently commissioned to create artworks for Sunday Times Bestseller Yasmin Boland’s Moonology Series.
