Golden Dawn Magical Tarot

I did quite a bit of research over which Golden Dawn deck to purchase (Benebell Wenn has reviews for six!) and was drawn to this one by the intensity of the colors and clearly symbolic nature of the figures, which manages to have little interest in physical anatomy and form, while steering clear of being naive. My hesitation was the pip cards, which I prefer to carry some imagery, but in this instance, as with the Thoth cards, there is plenty to distinguish one card from another, which is actually a great "in" to the Golden Dawn color system.
The surprise with this one though is the accompanying book, which is worth the price of the set by itself. A clear, simple and concise introduction to the Golden Dawn system linking Cards, Kabbalah and Astrology alongside a clearly illustrated, colored and richly symbolic deck as reference. I went into the store hoping the deck came by itself as I have "enough books already", but am very glad I bought the complete package!
And again a shout out to Tarot Arts for having such a great selection available and accessible to browse and compare and their ever friendly and helpful staff. A "must visit" if you're in the Los Angeles area!
