Artwork & Symbolism

The Baroque Tarot draws on the expressive qualities of Baroque painting: dramatic contrasts of light and shadow, richly colored garments, elaborate ornamentation, and imagery charged with spiritual and emotional significance.

Angels, saints, crowned figures, and sacred emblems inhabit compositions that evoke the grandeur of European churches and religious portraiture. Yet these are not simply reproductions of historical artworks. Each card is an original interpretation, bringing familiar tarot archetypes into a distinctive symbolic world.

Temperance appears as a luminous winged angel, Death as an armored rider, and the Three of Swords as an anatomical heart pierced by blades and surrounded by radiating ornamentation. These images capture both the beauty and intensity of the deck, inviting contemplation beyond their immediate meanings.

Created in 2021, the illustrations are entirely original works by La Muci, produced without the use of AI.

Reading with the Baroque Tarot

The Baroque Tarot invites a thoughtful approach to reading, encouraging reflection on the challenges, emotions, and transformations that shape our lives. Its imagery is particularly evocative for questions involving personal growth, relationships, difficult transitions, and the search for meaning.

The deck follows the traditional structure of 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana cards, with recognizable symbolism that will feel familiar to readers of the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition.

The accompanying printed guidebook provides card interpretations, astrological correspondences, and elemental associations for the court cards. It also introduces several reading methods, including single-card reflections, three-card spreads, and the Celtic Cross.

Accessible to newer readers yet visually rewarding for experienced practitioners, the Baroque Tarot offers a rich setting for intuitive readings and personal contemplation.

Presentation & Craftsmanship

The physical presentation of the Baroque Tarot reflects the richness of its artistic inspiration. Gold foil accents the card fronts and elaborate floral backs, while fully gilded edges lend the deck a luminous, jewel-like finish.

Printed on substantial 350 gsm art paper with matte lamination, the cards combine a smooth surface with beautifully detailed illustrations. Their ornate backs feature a symmetrical floral design in black and gold.

The deck and its printed guidebook are housed in an illustrated magnetic flip box, decorated with elaborate ornamentation and designed for lasting protection.

With its striking artwork and carefully considered presentation, the Baroque Tarot makes a beautiful addition to a tarot collection and a memorable gift for admirers of sacred art and symbolism.

About the Creator

La Muci Design is an independent tarot and oracle studio based in Slovenia, creating original decks that explore symbolism, spirituality, and imaginative visual storytelling.

The Baroque Tarot was the studio's second Kickstarter project, conceived as an exploration of divine love, mortality, and the movement from hardship toward spiritual fulfillment. Its artwork was created in 2021 without the use of artificial intelligence.

With five successfully funded Kickstarter campaigns and an international community of collectors, La Muci Design continues to develop distinctive, independently created tarot and oracle decks.
