  • Faery Lore

Faery lore is woven into every part of this kit, giving it a rich, mystical story that stands out from standard tarot. Here’s how this enchanting tradition influences the Victorian Faery Tarot:

    • Seasonal Symbolism: The four suits are reimagined as the seasonal courts—Wands as the Spring Court, Cups as the Summer Court, Pentacles as the Autumn Court, and Swords as the Winter Court—infusing each suit with the natural cycles of renewal, growth, harvest, and introspection.

    • Reimagined Major Arcana: Traditional archetypes receive a Victorian twist with evocative new names: Magician becomes Conjuror, High Priestess transforms into Seeress, Hierophant is re-envisioned as Vicar, Lovers take on the persona of Fairy Bride, Strength becomes Fortitude (VIII), Wheel of Fortune evolves into Wheel of Time, Justice is retitled Magistrate (XI), Hanged Man turns into Hanging Fairy, Devil shifts to Goblin Market, Tower is reborn as Burning Oak, Star simplifies to Stars, Judgment becomes Awakening, and World is reimagined as Worlds.

    • Court Cards with a Faery Twist: The court cards are retitled to resonate with the enchanted society—Page becomes Herald, followed by Knight, Queen, and King—each figure evoking the mystical hierarchy of Victorian faery society.

    • Artistic Expression: This beautifully illustrated 78-card RWS-based deck features exquisite watercolor artwork, including exclusive reversible card backs painted by Gary, that capture the delicate and otherworldly essence of faery lore.

    • Floral Symbolism: Drawing on Victorian flower lore, the cards incorporate subtle botanical motifs and symbolic floral imagery. These elements evoke the secret language of blooms—each flower representing emotions, messages, and the ephemeral beauty of nature, deepening the deck’s mystical narrative.

Together, these elements intertwine to honor traditional tarot while inviting you to explore a world where the cycles of nature, faery myth, and floral lore merge in perfect harmony.

    Delightful art and storytelling

I really love this deck. I guess charming is the correct word to use when describing it. It comes in a large box inside is the regular deck in a good box and a mini deck in a good box also postcards and a silk cloth. My only complaint is that it arrived in less than perfect condition. The fool card in the standard deck is slightly bent which means I can't really use it for reading. And the cardboard separation inside the large box was rather torn up. Which says to me that this was opened and possibly returned. That being said the guidebook is absolutely lovely and very complete.
