The Living Deck: Designing the Tarot + Oracle Decks of Your Dreams

Tarot and oracle decks are more than collections of cards. They are living ecosystems of symbols, archetypes, mythology, and imagination that create a relationship between creator, reader, and spirit.

In this interactive workshop, author and deck creator Pamela Chen guides participants through the magical process of transforming an idea into a fully realized deck concept. Through brainstorming in the Akashic Records, symbolic world building, publishing insights, and creative prompts, participants will explore how to shape a deck with deep meaning and spiritual connection.

Participants will learn the differences between tarot and oracle systems, how to develop cohesive themes and archetypes, ways to strengthen the “world” of their deck, tips for finding artists, and insight into both self-publishing and traditional publishing pathways.

Whether you are creating a deck for personal use, client work, creative expression, or future publication, this workshop offers practical tools, inspiration, and guidance to help bring your vision into form. Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook, sketchbook, or any existing deck ideas they would like to explore during the workshop.

Workshop Format

This special Festival workshop combines teaching, creative exploration, and personal connection with Pamela Chen. The experience will include:

  • Lecture & visual presentation — Pamela will share insights into tarot and oracle deck creation, symbolic world building, publishing pathways, and the spiritual architecture of a deck.
  • Interactive Akashic brainstorming & creative exploration — Participants will be guided through live brainstorming within the Akashic Records to explore deck concepts, archetypes, themes, symbolism, and the energetic foundation of their work. Creative prompts and reflective exercises will help bring ideas into clearer form.
  • Q&A with Pamela Chen — A chance to ask questions about deck creation, publishing, spiritual business, creative process, and bringing a mystical project into form.
  • Meet & greet / book signing — Guests will have time to connect with Pamela after the workshop and have books or decks signed, as available.

A notebook, sketchbook, or existing deck concept is encouraged for anyone who would like to develop ideas during the workshop.

About Pamela Chen

Pamela Chen is an author and tarot and oracle deck creator with Llewellyn Worldwide, Hay House, and U.S. Games Systems. Her teachings blend quantum manifestation, energy alchemy, and soul-level magic to help others unlock their purpose and abundance.

Pamela is also an Akashic Records teacher, magical business mentor, and manifestation coach. She is the co-founder of a mystery school with her business partner, Alexandra Hanly. Together, they train the next generation of spiritual leaders and mystics to become powerful healers and energetic masters. Their mission is to empower humanity, raise the consciousness of the planet, and activate the New Earth timeline.

When she’s not guiding clients or writing mystical books, you can find Pamela cuddling her chickens, watching Asian dramas, or indulging in her favorite snack, spicy Cheeto puffs with avocado. She believes in living magically, manifesting boldly, and helping others awaken their most aligned, abundant lives.

This event is part of the 2026 Los Angeles Festival of Tarot, a citywide celebration of tarot, creativity, symbolism, and esoteric learning. TarotArts is honored to host intimate workshops, conversations, and experiences that bring attendees into closer connection with the cards and their creators.
