Visual Perfumery, Tarot as Memoir A Multisensory Workshop with Danielle Delceppo

How does a memory smell? How does a secret look?

As part of the Los Angeles Festival of Tarot, this immersive, hands-on workshop with artist and astrologer Danielle Delceppo invites you into the world of Visual Perfumery—a collage-based method that treats imagery like fragrance.

Participants will explore the Major Arcana as a living archive, learning to layer transparent visual notes to build a custom card that reflects their own personal history. To ground the experience in the physical world, you will complete your creation by selecting a curated aroma to scent your card with, anchoring your intuitive work in a multisensory scent- memory. Leave with a physical artifact of your own making and a new, atmospheric language for the tarot.

Workshop Overview

In this session, Danielle Delceppo introduces her proprietary method of Visual Perfumery, a collage-based technique used to create her deck, Perfume for the Eyes: A Tarot of Dreams. This workshop explores how the architecture of scent — top, middle, and base notes — can be translated into visual layers to "archive" personal memoirs through the archetypes of the Major Arcana.

Learning Objectives:

  • The Narrative Lens:
Learn to view the Major Arcana not as static symbols, but as containers for personal and collective memory.
  • The Layering Technique:
Hands-on instruction in using transparency and composition to create depth, mimicking the blurring of the senses during a deep intuitive reading
  • Scent Anchoring:
Participants will finalize their work by selecting a specific
perfume to scent their card, utilizing olfactory triggers to solidify the intuitive insights gained during the session.

What You’ll Take Home

Each participant will create and take home:

  • A custom, handcrafted Major Arcana card
  • Built through layered collage and intuitive composition
  • Infused with a selected scent, creating a personal, multisensory talisman

About the Presenter

Danielle Delceppo is a Visual Perfumer,Astrologer, and Divinatory artist who explores the intersection of sensory memory and archetypal narrative. Danielle developed Visual Perfumery — a singular, synesthetic method that translates the architecture of fragrance (top, middle, and base notes) into layered visual landscapes. By treating visual elements as aromatic notes, she evokes the expansive, atmospheric narrative of the archetypal Tarot, allowing each card to unfold as a multisensory experience, a visual perfume.

Her self-published deck, Perfume for the Eyes: A Tarot of Dreams, invites readers to use the Tarot as a living memoir, activating intuition through cinematic fragments and collective iconography. Based in Portland, Oregon, Danielle maintains a monthly residency at
Frances May and the Portland Soho House, where she facilitates immersive events and private sessions that bridge the gap between individual practice and collective experience.

In 2020, she founded the creative studio Auburn Intuitive to bridge this lifelong engagement in the mantic arts with her technical acuity in the visual spectrum — a skill set honed over a decade spent developing a vibrational fluency in color on a global scale in color design leadership at Nike
