Highlights of Issue N.1

Issue No. 1 brings together an extraordinary range of contributors exploring tarot, astrology, symbolism, sacred scent, folklore, film, spirituality, and the many ways we create meaning through story and symbol.

Highlights include essays by Sasha Graham, Kirk Little, Motoyasu Sato, Emily Carding, Andrea Aste, Krystyna Swordstone, and many other voices from the contemporary esoteric community.

From divination and sacred geography to cinema, incense, and contemporary esoteric practice, each article offers a unique perspective on the hidden currents that shape our lives and imaginations.

The Topography of Meaning

A special thematic section, The Topography of Meaning, explores tarot as a landscape to be traveled rather than simply a system to be studied.

Featured essays include:

  • Where the River Dreams the Arcana — David Mitchell
  • Walking the Land of Tarot — James Jude Tarot
  • Esoteric Travel: Tarot Navigation — Anna Willatt
  • The Hidden Map: A Journey through the Major Arcana — Russell A. Sturgess

Readers familiar with TarotArts may recognize James Jude Tarot among the contributors to this issue. Known to many through his readings, classes, and community programs, James contributes Walking the Land of Tarot, a thoughtful exploration of tarot as a landscape to be traveled rather than merely a system to be studied.

Together, these essays invite readers to imagine tarot as a living terrain filled with paths, thresholds, rivers, crossroads, and destinations waiting to be discovered.

Known as "The Artist Philosopher" in the United States, Aste holds a master’s degree in philosophy, which heavily influences his parallel fictional worlds, blending deep philosophical themes with artistic expression.

His works have been exhibited globally in prestigious museums, such as the Musée Grévin in Paris, Montreal and Geneva, and the Natural Science Museum in Turin. His artwork has been featured in galleries like the Guildhall Gallery in London and at major events such as the Venice Biennale (2015).
